2015 we had a blip of a thought of “what if” we got a sailboat.

And that thought grew into a dream, a passion, and then a full blown “whatever it takes” attitude that got us here.

You see, when you have something that grows into a LIFE, more than a dream. It’s crazy what it does to you.

So in February of 2016 we sold all of our stuff,  Beau quit his full time office job as a mechanical engineer, Brandy continued to work full time with our healthy and fitness business online and we drove from New York to Florida, head first into this SAILBOAT life. Not having one lick of sailing experience… sometimes you just have to go for it.

Who says you can’t have everything you want in life… stop listening to them. Start living your amazing life. Because none of us want to be caught saying I wish I did…

We thought if we could just work our tails off and save up for a sailboat, we would be good to go. We knew we didn’t have the funds to buy a brand new or even a gently used boat. So we went for the REALLY used route. What we did know was that with some GRIT we could make any boat our home.

When we found Saoirse she had been donated to the Chapman Seamanship School in Florida. She had a seized engine and it looked like she had seen WAY BETTER days. But we saw past what she was and envisioned what she could be. From DAY ONE we recorded our day to day as we restored this boat into becoming our new home.

After two and half years of sweat, blood, a lot of fiberglass and paint, we decided she was good to go. Along with our dog Oona, we left the marina in August 2018 and never looked back. We knew we didn’t know anything about sailing, but we learn best by doing, so that is exactly what we were going to do. We took the boat out sailing six times and then hopped across to the Bahamas from Florida.

This has not been the cocktails and sunsets that everyone may think it is, but rather a LOT of work, tears, frustration, learning, fixing and more fixing. We’ve learned more about one another, our relationship, and that THIS is definitely the life we want. Because if it wasn’t, we would have turned around a long time ago.
